What can you say about this statement? Please be specific and answer it with a paragraph.
Opportunity cost is the highest-value second option when any decision is made (McGlasson, 2022). I chose to use the example for the opportunity cost to go to college. Opportunity cost also shows another way of what sacrificing means (McGlasson, 2022). It would cost me a total of roughly $30,000 per year for 4 years to go to college. That is a total of $120,000. Room and board is an estimate of $12,000 each year. If I wanted to make sure that I succeed in school, then I would have to give up working a 9 to 5 as well due to other obligations. In order to gain experience in any field, it may mean that you have to take an unpaid internship (Cory, 2012). I would be sacrificing an estimate salary of $35,000 to $42,000 to go to school. I would also have to be present for class, so I would have to sacrifice time with my family. Because I am not willing to give up school, other things will have to be sacrificed.
I like this exercise because it explained opportunity cost more in depth. It also enlightened me in ways I could never imagine. This exercise showed me that everything has a cost, whether it's indirect or direct. I will now be more aware of the costs in my decision-making from now on.
