Were you overwhelmed and if so, how did this affect your progression through the stress and coping model? My work is focus-intensive, and the main resource is awareness. Today I had to interpret a purchase order written in Portuguese towards the end of the work day. Purchase orders written in other languages can be hard to understand because other countries can have different information hierarchies besides using different words. For example, the Portuguese order used a different word for quantity and also wrote the quantity in a smaller font on the right-hand of the page. In contrast, most countries that read left to right will emphasize quantity by putting it on the left hand of the page, right after price, sometimes with the name of what is being ordered before either. I did not have much awareness left and had recently eaten too quickly so I was distracted by the discomfort. I did not have the resources to interpret the order.
