1. What do you believe is the goal of the CFAA and does society benefit from it? If so, how?
2. How do you feel that the law should treat so-called "whistleblowers" who gain access to computers belonging to another person for the purpose of exposing wrongdoing? Should that person be prosecuted and punished? Is disclosure of misdeeds more important the confidentiality of another person's information? What if it turns out that the exposed "misdeeds" that the hacker has exposed are not illegal acts but simply embarrassing or distasteful?
3. What if, instead of exposing alleged human rights abuses in Iraq, Chelsea Manning published emails exchanged between her superior officer and a sexual partner that was not his/her spouse for the purpose of embarrassing that superior officer? Under those circumstances, would you be more likely to support prosecution under the CFAA?
4. Should employees of U.S. companies, like Facebook, be prosecuted under the CFAA for accessing embarrassing company documents and leaking them to the media? Why or why not?
