What do you think about birthright citizenship? The two legal criteria for acquiring birthright U.S. citizenship are clear: birth in the U.S. and subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S. But as a matter of policy, do you think that this is wise? Why or why not? For example, should the children who are born in the U.S. to people who are in the U.S. temporarily or unlawfully be granted U.S. citizenship?

Many countries do not offer birthright citizenship the same way as the United States. Why do you think that is? When looking at the map of those countries that offer unconditional birthright citizenship, what do you notice about the location of those countries who offer unconditional birthright citizenship and those that do not?
