What I'm looking for with thisdiscussion: By using the MarketInsider website data, Is there a link between the dividends paid by a firm and the current stock price? This is what we are examining this week based on the constant growth rate dividend discount model. But, does it work in practice? Has the stock price been increasing (or decreasing) at a rate similar to dividends? Is there any correlation? Is there something in the news in the past year that might be driving the stock price?
This is, as in all discussions, NOT a major quantitative analysis. It is intended as a discussion between colleagues on stock price movements and underlying factors which might be driving the prices.
