What impact, if any, did Phyllis Schlafly have on the ERA?

She changed her stance from anti$-$ERA to pro$-$ERA once she realized that she herself had gone to college and had both a family and career $--$ two of the many things that the ERA would help women achieve.

Although she herself was doing almost exactly what she was preaching against $($that is$,$ having a family and a successful career at the same time$),$ her virulent work against the ERA brought many conservative women out of their homes and into the public arena of debate, culminating in the ultimate defeat of the ERA as an amendment to the US Constitution

She believe that the ERA would save the lives of millions of babies and argued before the Supreme Court in favor of banning abortion.

She had no involvement in politics or social issues and did nothing to affect or impact the ERA.
