As a medical biller and coder it is important to have knowledge in all of the systems and their functions. The nervous system is connected to so many parts of the body that being able to identify diagnosis can lead you to capture other related diagnosis . Capturing these will help you better bill and and obtain payment for all procedures and services rendered. Most insurance will not amend a bill or retro pay for missed services. Therefore knowing the systems and how they are all connected play a crucial part in billing and coding . The further we get into the course the more i realize how important all systems are it's the body each system is connected to another system and they all can lead to other illness , conditions. When reviewing the case it will all peace together like a puzzle. I have mentioned before my experience with my current duties. I will admit a patient that has suffered a fall and is take to the ER for evaluation and then discharged to our skilled nursing facility when reviewing the case i will see that the patient has had a recent surgery or procedure. This may be a surgery or procedure from a hospitalization prior to the most recent one. How ever once admitted we will provide after care for all of the patients needs! Our coder must properly code in order to bill accordingly.
