I work for a bank that merged with another larger bank. This was a huge change for the organization and impacted the company payroll, policies, leadership positions, dress code and incentive strategy. There is over 100k employees in the organization. As a middle manager you may have to communicate and lead change that you also must adjust to. It takes a nimble, positive approach to navigate through those changes while also supporting your team members. Middle manager may also feel a bit overwhelm about changes but it important that they execute in effective behaviors. There are many elements of innovation that are important for organizational change.
Leadership is quality to not manage but lead team members to be successful. Leaders can influence people in upper, middle and across the company and can motivate team members to support the goals and changes. Promoting a positive impact and outlook of the changes will encourage people to listen.
Communication is key to building good relationships. There needs to be openminded and creative problem solving for the management and HR to handle situation uniquely. Using new and existing relationships within the organization to unite people behind the change. The top levels need to create a buy in to their vision, values and mission to drive it to the middle managers for communication and creation of awareness and core behaviors.
Culture is important for the element of change because an employee must care and value their reflection within their role in the organization. When this occurs, diligence is put into creating the behaviors that align with the organization vision and processes to support the employees.
Understanding the importance of how these and all other elements of change manage effects an organization ability to evolve is important. With growing changes and economic factors, continued development and changes may be necessary and it is up to leadership to create structure around it.
