Given a sample mean of 12.5 based on 25 cases and a population variance of 10,

construct a 95% confidence interval for the population mean. Interpret the resulting

interval.

P.S. - I don't think the doc on here under ELRC 7006 is correct.

(x - 1SEM) , (x + 1SEM) In this example, SEM=10/ (25) = 2.0 and the sample mean = 12.5. Our interval would then be:

(12.5 - 1*2.0), (12.5 + 1*2.0) = [23, 27]

We could interpret this as saying that there is a 95% chance that the mean of the

population from which this sample was drawn falls between 23 and 27.
