For example, the Baby Boomers prefer more of motivational type of feedback. This type of employee would respond to positive feedback followed with a bit of coaching on how to improve next time. Whereas a Millennial wants immediate feedback to improve in the moment. Baby Boomers also want specific tasks with deadlines to measure their performance; Generation Z wants multiple projects and to work independently on their own schedule. It becomes difficult to measure the performance of these types of employees in the same roles with such difference attitudes and goals. Training is another area where the generation gap can cause problems. Generation Z has no problem watching a video or using technology to learn a new task. However, a traditionalist would much rather prefer a hands on, personal to personal type of training. While this does take more time there is a benefit of this. If the task is to much of a change from what the employee was previously doing, the Gen Z (who simple watched a video)
