what is you opinion about this?

1. Regulatory Criminal Laws, also known as "Malum prohibitum laws," (Castillo, 2019, p.7) are offenses that are considered wrong because the statute makes it so. Regulatory criminal laws are typically offenses that are wrong because it is not allowed. One example of Regulatory law includes Tax avoidance, not paying and or filing your taxes is illegal, although it is not a dangerous offense, it is still punishable by fine or imprisonment. Another example is littering, these are victimless acts but can affect society in some sort of way therefore prohibited by the state. Malum en se laws are laws that prohibit behaviors that are naturally evil in themselves or behaviors and actions that any normal society will find inhumane or uncivil. For example, child abuse and neglect is a crime against humanity and wrong itself.

2. One of the principles that I believe is the most important is principle 2, "If a law fails to achieve its intended purpose or if there are legitimate reasons why it should not be enforced as written then it should be revised or repealed," (Castillo, 2019, p.13). I believe that this principle is very important due to the significant amount of laws that are ignored by police and society. One example also mentioned in the book is prostitution or a more modern term sex workers. Prostitution is illegal but often ignored by enforcement and minimum punishment by the courts. In general, one can only ask, "why is this still illegal?" In today's society, we have sex workers advocates, those who challenge laws surrounding sex work, and how they should be revised and repealed. Many people can use examples like "OnlyFans" and erotic dancers similar to sex work/prostitution, and that everyone should have the right to their own body, these are just some examples of hypothetical scenarios where the law fails to achieve its intended purpose and leads to confusion in society.
