What is your greatest strength?Or what have been your greatest accomplishments or achievements thus far? In any interview there are a few questions designed for you to sell yourself, and this is one of them. Interviewers categorize this as a "convince me question. Before the interview, prepare one or two key qualities that you possess that you know from prior research to be the greatest demand for that particular job. Through questions, find out what traits are most sought after and tailor your presentation to those qualities. In other words, relate your greatest strength to the qualities needed to satisfy that position. If the employer is known for innovation, demonstrate that you are innovative. If they have a reputation for being conservative, follow suit. If they pride themselves on teamwork, discuss your ability to function within a group. State the quality or strength and then support your claim with your previous accomplishments. Be ready to cite one or two what I call "hero stories" that will make you attractive to your employer and be sure to make them as interesting as possible. Interviewers hate to be bored! If leadership is a sought after trait, consider people you have hired or led, an academic experience, training course or a committee you served on which demonstrates leadership.
