Gucci and Chanel are two companies that have been victimized by counterfeiting. A shipment from The United Arab Emirates that was in route to Georgia was inspected at a port in Memphis TN. In the shipment, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers found 550 pairs of counterfeit Gucci and Chanel earrings. This affects the company because if consumers are more likely to buy from other seller's rather than Gucci or Chanel, these companies lose customers which results to money lost in overall profit. These counterfeit products also rob our country of jobs and tax revenue. Luxury brands have unfortunately been affected by counterfeiting for years. Chanel and other luxury brands are consistentlymonitoring websites in search for counterfeit selling online, so they can put a stop to it. They invest a lot of money in human resources to fight against these counterfeiters. They also work directly with social networks and big e-commerce marketplaces to filter what is advertised and show less of counterfeit scams
