I do not think the FAF made a mistake by selecting Joel Black as the next GASB chairman. He seems like a competent choice who has experience with government accounting from private sector auditing and his position on the Governmental Accounting Advisory Council.GASB is an independent body, so limiting the selection pool to only state auditors does not seem necessary. Also, being a state auditor does not mean that the person has the most governmental accounting knowledge in that state much less the country.
