What kinds of torts that might be alleged in the plaintiff's statement of claim in this scenario?
In the 1970s, the plaintiff Laura Norberg was plagued by recurring headaches of unknown origin. Her sister offered her some tablets of an addictive painkiller called Fiorinal, which helped with the pain. Eventually, the cause of the headaches was determined and treated; but by this time, Ms. Norberg was addicted to the painkillers.
Over the next couple of years, Ms. Norberg sought out different doctors in an effort to obtain continued access to Fiorinal. In 1982, she became the patient of a Dr. Wynrib. Complaining of an ankle injury, Ms. Norberg convinced Dr. Wynrib to prescribe her Fiorinal. Eventually, he began refusing on the grounds that her pain should have subsided and that the drug was addictive. Ms. Norberg persisted in her requests and confessed to the doctor that she was addicted. Dr. Wynrib wrote her a new prescription, but only after she agreed to certain sexual favours, which she began providing. After going along with the doctor's requests on several occasions in exchange for pills, Ms. Norberg eventually brought a lawsuit against him.
