What people don't know, I live in Connecticut, work remotely in Tennessee and work in person in Springfield, Massachusetts. One might argue, I am a modern-day jet setter.Even in light of Covid, I am still flying, the frustrating part is that every time I enter a new state, I have new set of laws to obey for Covid. After 40 Covid test, I decided, enough is enough, I called my friend, Susan, who is also a lawyer, I said Susan, these conflicting state laws are annoying I am not taking another Covid test. Susan and I actually took Constitutional Law together in law school. I told Susan, I am just going to fill out the Connecticut Department of Public Health Covid Travel Advisory paperwork and go about my business, who will ever know I did not take the test. Connecticut Department of Public Health has no time to worry about me.When I arrived in Connecticut, on a Monday, I completed the Connecticut Department of Public Health Covid form, and went to work in Massachusetts on Tuesday, without taking any Covid test. When I left Massachusetts a police officer stopped me for speeding in Connecticut, after looking up my name in the state database, the Connecticut Officer asked where was my negative Covid test.I said "Oh, I have my results in my purse." When the officer asked to see my purse, I responded, "You never look in a woman's purse." The Officer, then asked to search my car, I said "why, would I let you search my car Officer." The next thing I knew the Officer gave me a ticket for violating the Connecticut Department of Health Covid regulation, I was fined $1000.00. Well, that Officer does not know who I am. I hired my friend Susan to represent me. I gave her $500 retainer and signed a retainer contract. The retainer contract stated that any issues arising out of the retainer agreement must be disputed by an Independent Arbitrator. Susan filed a request to appeal the $1000.00 fine by filing an administrative case with the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health, an administrative agency, the agency hearing officer upheld the $1000.00 fine.
