Case Study:

"Joshua is a 10-year-old adolescent who attends the afterschool life skills training that you facilitate. His mother requested services for Joshua because he is having difficulty following directions at home. He becomes the most angry with male authority figures, often cursing and ignoring directives from his stepfather. Your group helps kids diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder learn effective communication skills. During the lesson on reflective listening, Joshua becomes annoyed with the idea of repeating what his peer says. He begins to yell, "I don't want to participate in this stupid group anymore!" Seeing Joshua become irritable is making the group increasingly agitated."
