I am a volunteer assisting the course Professor with a group of students working on a class project. One of the students in the college class has indicated that they are having difficulty working with the group and meeting project deadlines. As a result, the student has booked an appointment with me for 1 hour At our rst appointment, the student came 10 minutes late, needed something to write notes in and appeared distracted. She indicated that she struggled with the project requirements and was discouraged. I listened to her concerns and shared that I had similar experiences as a student. We discussed reasons for her distractions and put timelines in place to help to improve meeting deadlines. After providing her with the paper, I refocused the student by assisting her with writing a task list and short-term course goals and offered tips on how she might interact more with her class group. At the end of the appointment, the student identied that she felt more condent, focused, and optimistic about working with her group. Break down the story into sections Group work. 1.
