What's the other way of looking at Cuba other than the government's way? (Note Cuba's GDP per capita was twice as high in 1950 than in 1998 after Russian aid ended.)

The other way of looking at Cuba is to consider the country's economic and political situation from the perspective of the general population, rather than just the government's point of view which the mister of health said that"Cubans are the healthiest of the poor,". By looking through the other way we must acknowledge the hardships and limitations imposed on the Cuban people by the country's economic and political systems (for example people were dying because of nutritional deficiency and not because of poisoning for black market food or germs causing metabolic problems which and also that the food being rationed), as well as the impact of external factors such as the end of Russian aid followed by an economic crisis due to which their GDP per capita was twice as high between 1950 and 1998
