He then drove to his wife's apartment. John and his wife, Angela, were separated. He gave her some money and said he needed a place to "lay low" for a while. The next evening, John turned on the television news and told Angela, "Now, you're going to see something interesting." When the murder was reported, Angela said she knew from John's expression that he was involved somehow. She did not ask John anything about it and did not call the police. She said she was afraid of John because he was a violent man with a prison record and she did not know or want to know the details of what had happened
