When Moira was 34 years old and engaged to her fianc, Dave, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and told she needed to begin chemotherapy as soon as possible. She quickly decided to undergo egg retrieval so that she could use her eggs later after she (hopefully) recovered from breast cancer. Unfortunately, the doctor had misdiagnosed how advanced her breast cancer was, and Moira died four months after her eggs were frozen.
