When turning the scene over to the investigating officer(s) the initial responding officer should: Question 20 options: a) Brief the investigating officer taking charge, assist in controlling the scene, turn over responsibility for the documentation of entry/exit, remain at the scene until relieved of duty. b) Speak to witnesses, identify the scope of the scene, ask for help, set up communications and send all unnecessary personnel home. c) Brief the media officer, request extra lighting, remove unnecessary personnel, canvass area to identify witnesses, and check supplies of bags and tags d) Go and get coffee for those present, take time to speak to the media and advise them of who is in command, move all emergency vehicles outside of the crime scene, discuss with the investigators as to who should approve overtime.
