When you are recruiting to fill a vacant position in your company, you can either recruit internally by transferring or promoting an existing employee within the company, or externally by hiring someone new into the organization. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Which do you think is better? Participate in the debate as follows:
1. Take a side and post your argument in either the "internal is better" or "external is better" discussion thread to make a case why you think that approach is better.
2. In your post, include one or two ideas of the recruitment methods you would use, that are specific to either internal or external recruitment. For example, if you are arguing that recruiting internally is better, then include one or two internal recruitment methods. Why did you pick those specific methods?
3. Then go to the other thread, and respond to at least one of your classmates arguments by posing a counter-argument against their reasons.
Obviously, in reality, we use a balance of both internal and external approaches. No company ONLY hires from within or ONLY hires externally. The point is to explore the pros and cons of each approach, and identify the recruitment methods for each approach.
