While 'managing by walking around' with one of your project managers, you strike up a discussion with a software engineer who is coding a portion of your program. At one point in the conversation the software engineer mentions that the work she's doing isn't part of the WBS or any work package, but that the change is so small and should only takes about 8 hours that she figured she'd make the change on her own. How would you explain to her how and the reason why to make that change part of the approved baseline? What example would you provide to illustrate this point?
