While serving on active duty I have had to perform transactional leadership to achieve many assigned tasks that were given to me to ensure success of our command. In doing so, there were two directs to take. Knowing what the task was and how soon the commander wanted it done, I could have used my rank and either ordered it to be done which is what we call being voluntold to do something, or I could use my transformational leadership and take my platoon and we knock it out together. In using the transformational leadership, I was able to show the Marines what needed to be accomplished while helping them with the task. In leading by example and understanding their needs with what was required it afforded me the opportunity to have something completed that was not out of frustration, more Marines learning how to do something new and working as a team to build camaraderie. what is an alternative responds here
