While the idea of space-based power plants remains speculative, technological advancements and growing concerns about climate change could drive increased interest and investment in exploring this concept. Continued research and development, along with advancements in space infrastructure and launch capabilities, may eventually make space-based power generation a viable option for meeting global energy needs.
