Why do you think cost allocation is important in a business with several divisions? We have direct costs of each division and then we have indirect cost which are for the college as a whole and these are service departments such as college security, maintenance, admissions and records. If you were assigned the job of cost allocation which allocation base would you use for these three costs and why?
