will be reading three case studies that illustrate different psychological disorders. For each case study you will choose from the list below which therapy you think is the best option is to help the person suffering from the disorder.

For each of the case studies and proposed treatment options please discuss the following:

• Symptoms of the disorder.
• Potential causes of the disorder.
• Name and briefly summarize the best treatment option.
• Describe in detail why your treatment option would work better than others.

Case Studies:

1. Panic Disorder: Alexa was watching Netflix after school when she suddenly developed an unusual and extremely strong feeling of feeling lightheaded a smothering sensation. She began having difficulty breathing and her heart began pounding. The pounding was so strong she thought she may be having a heart attack. Immediately after her heart began pounding she began feeling shaky and sweaty and within about 60-90 seconds the episode ended. This is the 6^th such episode this month.

1. Depression: Derek's school counselor contacted his parents with a concern that he may be depressed or possibly suicidal. For the past month at school Derek has seemed sad and withdrawn. Derek has been through 4 treatment facilities with no success.

1. Schizophrenia: Oliva is 24 years old and recently has been showing signs of schizophrenia. She has been having auditory hallucinations of voices that have been telling her she is bad and that she should harm herself. She finds that during times of stress these voices increase and she has more difficulty controlling her thoughts.
