Hello Class,
I had a very difficult time finding a leadership style questionnaire that fit within the parameters of the course, but ended up finding one about ethics in leadership that I took. The results I think speak more to how my ethics are motivated than about my leadership style. But that said- I do believe that I'm a very ethically minded person- often taking the hard right over the easy wrong.
The survey can be found at www.leaderdecisionmakingsurvey.com. The intent of this survey is to determine what motivates the ethics of leaders and thus affects their leadership style. The results are broken down into Duty, Justice, Virtue, Justice, Caring, Utilitarianism, and Ego. I was not too impressed with the survey as each question only had two options, the options repeated themselves often, and often the choice I would have chosen was not present. But all that said my results were as follows (score of 1-5), and I believe them to be fairly accurate.
Duty I would do my duty. 3.7
Virtue I would do what a good person would do. 3.7
Justice I would do what is fair. 2.7
Caring I would be sensitive and caring in my close relationships. 2.3
Utilitarianism I would do what benefits the most people. 1.7
Ego I would do what benefits me the most. 1
It will be interesting to keep these results in mind as we learn about decision making in this class. I just finished reading "Thinking Fast and Slow" which discusses two main ways our brains process information to make decisions. Keeping in mind how our brain works changes how I make decisions. I think it is well worth the read for anyone making decisions that affect others.
