William Mason of 15 Cedar Road, Maldon, Essex, a retired Financial Advisor, died last week, on 9 February 2024, aged ninety. As one of the executors of his will, Sarah Holland, his sister, has instructed Graham Turner, a solicitor of Key West Solicitors LLP to advise her on several issues that are concerning her regarding the deceased's will, which was made on the 14 May 2022. William's will was made shortly after he came out of hospital following a contusion on the brain, caused by him being hit by a car. Sadly, William Mason died when his friend Andy pushed him down a flight of stairs in a rage. This was after it was uncovered that William was having an affair with Andy's wife, Becca. Andy was convicted of manslaughter in relation to the killing. In accordance with the terms of the will, William has left his Alicanto Grande Porto caravan to Andy, worth 38,000. William Mason appointed two executors in total, and the other person is Kerrie Mason, his wife, however she died on 5 September 2021. Sarah Holland wants to know if she must find another executor to help her, or whether she can act as the sole executrix. William had an entirely unfounded belief that his daughter, Ellen Mason, had attempted to suffocate him with a pillow. As a result, William did not make any financial provisions for Ellen in the will, and left her nothing. William included a provision to his ex-business partner, Chris Deadman saying '50,000 to my ex-business partner, Khris Deadham'. Sarah Holland is also concerned that William Mason has spelled Chris' names incorrectly in the will. It says 'Khris Deadham', instead of 'Chris Deadman'. The correct names are 'Chris' and 'Deadman', and she wonders whether this invalidates the legacy to Chris. William included a provision to his neighbour, Brett Little, saying 'To my neighbour, Brett, my Rolex watch'. After William's death, Sarah was going through William's personal belongings and it emerged that William had recently sold the luxury Rolex watch for 19,000, buying a luxury Cartier Santos watch instead, for around the same value. The will also states that William wishes to leave '100 shares in National Grid PLC to my sister, Sarah Holland', however it emerges that William never owned any shares in National Grid PLC. Finally, the will states that the residue of his estate is to go to his youngest brother, Jamie Mason. Jamie who is a solicitor, drew up the will for William.
