With incentives in mind, why do some people engage activitiessuch as gambling, smoking, drug use, drinking alcohol, eating processed food, and/or promiscuous sex when such activities are generally associatedwith a higher risk of poverty, poor mental and physical health, and even death?

Should policymakers in government do anything about these high-risk behaviors? What, if anything, couldpolicymakers do to incentivizepeople to not engage in theses behaviors?
