With reference to decided cases and the relevant legal provisions, advise Biran (Patrah's executor) whether the gifts in Patrah's will are valid:

a)Monies totalling to USD 1 Million be set aside from the residue of my estate by the trustee to provide scholarships to any student who wishes to conduct research and publish research related reports on the state of prisoners' rights and welfare in Uganda and to support a campaign for a legal ban on the use of designated places by the government to detain the citizens of Uganda.

b)Monies totalling to USD I Million be set aside from the residue of my estate by the trustee to provide assistance to my former workmates who have been made redundant, provided that they have not yet found new employment.

c)The trustee to set aside monies totalling to USD 1 Million from the residue of my estate for purposes of creating a trust for the preservation of Mabira forest.

d)Would the gift in (c) stand as charitable if it read as follows 'for the preservation of forests in Kampala including Mabira forest,' in case Mabira forest was destroyed by fire two months after the death of Patrah?
