Workflow Scenario: Make-up Exam Process The Student Affairs Unit of the university wants to create a business process model for the make- up examination process outlined in Article 9 below. To help the student affairs with this task, you are asked to create a workflow diagram of the make-up exam process using the MS Visio drawing tool. It is recommended that you first try to identify each agent/unit mentioned in this policy, then their activities, and their decisions with possible outcomes. Then, start drawing. Please, insert a distinct horizontal swimlane (Cross Functional Flowchart) for the activities of each agent/unit. You can add lanes as many as you need. Among the available process notations in MS Visio, use the notations from the basic BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation) that were introduced in the MS Visio & BPMN training slideshow provided earlier. Article 9. Make-up Examination Policy University policy requires that students be permitted to make up examinations missed because of illness, mandatory religious obligations, or other unavoidable circumstances or university activities. Therefore, faculty members must offer reasonable options without penalty to students who have missed examinations with legitimate and acceptable excuses. It is the student's responsibility to contact the faculty member as soon as possible about the reasons for a missed exam. If the faculty members are agreed that the request complies with the university policy requirements, then the student needs to provide appropriate documentation. Once the faculty member receives the documentation, the documentation is sent to the department for authentication purposes. A make-up examination should be equivalent to the original in form, content, difficulty, and time limits, and the standards for scoring and grading should be equivalent to those used for the original examination. Therefore, exams should be scheduled at a reasonable time and location. If the department confirms the authentication, searches for available rooms and times for scheduling the exam. If scheduling is successful, the student takes the exam. On the occasion that, a reasonable and equivalent exam arrangement in an available room and time cannot be scheduled before the semester ends, the student receives a grade of Incomplete (1).
