Working on projects collaboratively can be difficult and stressful. However, working collaboratively can produce products that are leaps and bounds better than they would have been done singularly. This is only the case when working collaboratively is done utilizing tried and true techniques and potentially with newer and better ones. Some of the advantages of working collaboratively include, drawing from a wider knowledge base of multiple individuals instead of just one, utilizing the skills of each individual to ensure their expertise is leveraged to produce a finer product, viewing the contents of the product is done by multiple individuals who can provide inputs on how the audience will react to it, individuals learn about other collaborators' positions which can improve communication, new employees are better acclimated to the organization to gain a better understanding of how they fit into the bigger picture, and the organization can grow by the more experienced employees mentoring the newer ones. While working collaboratively has obvious advantages, it is important to understand the disadvantages so the organization can reduce their impacts and prevent them from affecting the finished product. These disadvantages include, collaboration takes more time than working individually and can require meetings that can be difficult to schedule, it can result in groupthink where some individuals feel dominated by others and are less likely to contribute individually for fear of being considered a non-conformist, it can produce a disjointed product where sections contradict or repeat or be written in different styles, workloads can be end up lopsided with certain individuals doing more work than others, alienated individuals may feel less motivated to contribute to the effort, and it can lead to conflict between collaborators which can damage the relationships of the team (Markel & Selber, 2022). For my final project, I will be presenting a plan to create a new educational grant. After reviewing the advantages and disadvantages of collaboration, I will complete the following actions to ensure the advantage effects are maximized and the disadvantage effects are minimized. Establish milestones that must be complete by certain dates. Set meeting dates and times in advance to allow collaborators enough time to prepare. Ask that each team member brings one recommendation to each meeting and a lot a set amount of time for each member to present their idea. This concept has been used by research teams. More specifically they identified the following plan to create inputs by each member, "It was agreed that the research team would also each submit a reflective piece for analysis and we all used the following guide for writing: 'Please write about anything that you think would help readers to understand your experience of being a co-researcher/academic researcher/3rd sector partner on a collaborative research project and what might be helpful to consider in future co-production approaches' (Collective, 2022)." Once ideas are generated, I would establish a centralized location to house all documents that every member will have access to. Deliverables for each meeting will be stored in this location before each meeting so each member will have enough time to review all applicable information. Since I will be requesting a new educational grant in the state of California, it will be important to analyze overall grant numbers to determine how much funding will be needed. To do this I will present the following chart in my presentation. It illustrates the different California grant categories as well as their corresponding amounts and the percentage of the overall grant budget
