Workplace Violence and Harassment - In June 2010 Ontario passed legislation (commonly still referred to as Bill 168 requirements) that amended the Occupational Health and Safety Act to place specific obligations on employers to deal with workplace violence and harassment. More recently, Bill 132 added to those requirements, placing even further obligations on employers when responding to harassment (including sexual harassment) allegations. Briefly touch on these requirements. Then, using the www.canlii.org website (or any other credible source), locate an Ontario decision where workplace violence and harassment is the key issue. Make sure the facts of the case occurred after 2016 so Bill 168 and Bill 132 requirements are relevant. The case chosen will be the main focus of this presentation as the group uses it to convey the key components of this issue. (You may use a labour arbitration case in a unionized work environment for this topic.)
