Take inspiration from Johnson's own speech, as well as the formal tone used in legislation and reports. In your speech, make sure that President Johnson

a) takes a clear stance for or against the new laws;

b) draws specifically on the history of both voting prior to 1965, the voting rights act of 1965, and voting after 1965 in order to make his stance;

c) ends with a clear recommendation about what should happen now in Congress regarding these new state laws; and

d) refers specifically to one of the recent documents after his time - the 2006 reauthorization, the 2021 Round Up of Voting Laws, or the 2021 newspaper column by Jamelle Bouie.
