Write a cation exchange reaction depicting the exchange that takes place when AICI3 is added to the humus extract?


PART 3: Flocculation Humus 1. Dilute the remaining 5 ml of humus extract to 20 ml. 2. Place 5 ml of diluted humus extract in each of 4 test tubes and fill the tubes 2/3 rds full with distilled water. 3. Add 10 drops of 0.5 N KCI to the first tube, the same amount of 0.5 N CaCl2 to the second, 0.5 AICI3 to the third and nothing to the fourth tube. 4. Invert the tubes. Observe and record the speed with which floccules form, their size and relative settling rates. Make final observations at the end of the laboratory period. Make notes on all results.
