Yazmin has just purchased a new home. She needs some furniture for it. On Monday, she visits Urbanitat, a furniture store where she sees a green velvet sofa on display. Next to the sofa, there is a sign saying: "sofas - 500." She approaches the sale assistant, she is told that the price for the green velvet sofa is 1500. Yazmin cannot afford 1500 for the sofa. She complains to the manager, Raul, who tells her that they cannot sell her the sofa for less than 1500 at present but she should leave her contact detail so they can inform her if some special offers become available.
On Tuesday, Yazmin sees the following advert on Facebook placed by Tables and Chairs Ltd: "For sale, a table with six chairs. Excellent condition. Don't miss this opportunity to own them for only 350. Email ... A photo of the table and the chairs is placed next to the advert.
Yazmin likes the table and the chairs and on Tuesday evening she sends an email to tables and chairs ltd asking whether they are made of wood. She receives a response to her email on Thursday morning, which states that the table and the chairs are made from oak. Yazmin writes back immediately, saying that she is willing to pay 350. On Friday morning, she receives a response email from Tables and Chairs Ltd, informing her that the table and the chairs have been sold.
Disappointed, Yazmin decides to take a weekend break to a countryside hotel. There is no internet connection at the hotel she is staying in, so she does not check her email account until she returns to London on Monday morning. An email has been sent to her on Friday afternoon by Raul, the manager of Urbanitat, saying that they have a special promotion in store and that she can now buy the green velvet sofa for 750, provided she confirms her interest by email no later than 5:00 pm on Sunday.
Yazmin responds to Raul's email, saying that she still wants the sofa and hurries to Urbanitat immediately but when she gets there, she is told that she is too late and that the green velvet sofa was sold an hour ago.
When she returns home, she realises that she had left the back door open and that her dog has left the house. She puts reward posters on her street saying that she will pay 200 to anyone who finds the dog. The next morning, Paul, her neighbour, finds the dog and returns it to Yazmin. Yazmin refuses to pay him.
Advise Yazmin. With actual contract law cases attached offer acceptance consideration etc please
