You and your roommates have a stack of dirty dishes in the kitchen sink. Either of you would wash the dishes if you were the only one who could wash the dishes (if you were the only resident of the apartment); however, as roommates, neither of you will wash the dishes in the hope that the other will wash them. Explain how this illustrates the problem of free-riding.
