You are a counselor at U University. A client comes in named Olivia who is in her first year of college at U University. She looks haggard and she says she has been crying all weekend. She explains that her boyfriend Alfred hasn't called her in two weeks and she thinks he is cheating on her. Olivia and Alfred have been dating since high school and they are now going to different colleges. She says that they both promised to stay in communication as often as possible, primarily by phone. In addition, she knows someone at the college Alfred attends and her friend says she has seen Alfred with two other women, once when studying and another at lunch. Olivia also often studies and has lunch with men, but she doesn't seem to remember that. Both Olivia and Alfred are 18 and this is their first serious relationship.

You have to decide on how to counsel Olivia. What will you tell her and how should she handle the situation?

  5. Who provided leadership in your group?
  6. How were disagreements and conflicts handled?
  7. How satisfied are you with your own level of participation in this exercise?
