You are a state politician and running to be governor in your state. You have worked in the correctional system and know that the current policies of mandatory sentencing laws, truth in sentencing laws, tougher parole and increased drug law enforcement are not working. Even though more individuals are being incarcerated for longer periods of crime, the crime problem is not being fixed by these strategies. These strategies are also bankrupting your state.
