You are an HR manager of Chern's department store, and are seeking to hire ONE new sales
Question:
You are an HR manager of Chern's department store, and are seeking to hire ONE new sales associate for your flagship store in NJ. Due to the budget constraint, you are considering to choose five employment tests out of the nine tests available (see the first row of the table below). Given the company's business strategy focusing to deliver differentiated, superior customer experiences, you are trying to assess various qualities of the following eight applicants in terms of their abilities to contribute to improved customer experiences.
1. What tests would you choose among the nine tests? Note that you are going to use five tests, which should include structured interview. Thus, please select FOUR tests (i.e., four tests + structured interview = five tests). In providing your answer, please (1) explain how your four tests can be used to assess the requisite qualities of the job applicants, and (2) make two or more interview questions for the structured interview (20 pts).
2. The above table shows the scores for each of the tests. Note that they were on different measurement scales (e.g., 1 to 10, 1 to 100). Thus, your job now is to (1) standardize those scores into z-scores, (2) come up with appropriate weights for the z-scores, (3) calculate overall scores (i.e., weighted average) for each of the eight candidates, and (4) choose the one who will receive a job offer. The use of the weights can be based on your subjective judgments. Please use the Excel spreadsheet and submit it (20 pts).
