You are at a trendy caf with your friend, Adam, who is the ownner of the cafe. Adam looks terrible and when you ask him what's wrong, he tells you that he has been up all night trying to balance his trial balance of the cafe, but it just won't balance and he needs help. Bill goes on to add that he has been working on it for days.

You have told Adam he needs to see his Accountant but you are happy to talk about how data is processed as this is one of the area's you have been studying.

You need to schedule a 10 to 15-minute meeting with Adam to discuss why his trial balance isn't balancing. Your teacher/assessor will play the role of Adam.

In preparation for your meeting with Adam, you need to be in a position to identify and explain the following concepts:

1. Discuss with Adam about completing routine activities accurately (e.g., understanding the importance of entering data accurateley)

2. Discuss non routine and non-repetitive accounting events that may impact on balancing a trial balance.

3. Advise Adam about the impact of transposition errors on trial balance. Why this may happen?

4. Advise Adam where he can seek for further advise if he still can't make the trial balance

balanced?
