You are currently working at NCLEX Memorial Hospital in the Infectious Diseases Unit. Over the past few days, you have noticed an increase in patients admitted with a particular infectious disease. You believe that the ages of these patients play a critical role in the method used to treat the patients. You decide to speak to your manager and together you work to use statistical analysis to look more closely at the ages of these patients. You do some research and put together a spreadsheet of the data thatcontains the following information:
- Client number
- Infection Disease Status
- Age of the patient
You need the preliminary findings immediately so that you can start treating these patients. So let's get to work!!!!
Background information on the Data:
The data set consists of 60 patients that have the infectious disease with ages ranging from 35 years of age to 76 years of age for NCLEX Memorial Hospital.
Based on the scenario and data set, Answer the following:
- Begin your assignment with a discussion of sampling distributions in context of your chosen scenario.
- What is a sampling distribution of a sample mean?
- What is a sampling distribution of a sample proportion?
- What is the behavior of the sample means?
- What is the behavior of the sample proportions?
- Which statistics are considered to be unbiased estimators of the sample means and sample proportions? Why are they important in statistics?
2. Choose 4 data values from your data set to represent your population (normally we don't know all values in the population and we don't work with such a small population as such but this will work for the purposes of this assignment).
- Be sure to list which 4 data values you chose from your data set in your written analysis.
- Ensure that your 4 data values are unique.
3. Obtain a simple random sample of size n = 2, with replacement, for all possible combinations.
- Make a chart of all possible samples of size n = 2, with replacement, from the 4 data values that you chose.
4. Compute the sample mean for all possible samples.
5. Construct a probability distribution for the sample means.
- Make a frequency distribution for all possible outcomes that contains your sample means, frequencies and probabilities.
- Interpret the results of your probability distribution.
6. Construct a probability histogram of your sampling distribution of the sample means.
- Your horizontal axis should be your sample means and your vertical axis should be your probabilities.
- Interpret the results of your probability distribution by commenting on the shape and center of your distribution.
7. Calculate the mean of the sample means.
- Do the values of the sample mean target the value of the population mean?
8. Conclusion
- Recap your ideas by summarizing the information presented.
The data info is the table below and I really only need question 5 (bold/underlined) answered. In the comment I will put the answers to the other questions as they may help with # 5
