You are employed by a non-profit organization, Healthcare Information Systems (HIS), whose mission is to provide information to clients and to help them become better consumers of healthcare. Your job is to provide information to clients regarding their financial responsibility for the healthcare services that they are receiving or anticipating that they will receive. While the ultimate determination is between the client and their health care coverage program, understanding the insurance language, government payment systems, and the options available, allows the consumer to be better informed. Answer the questions for each Scenario described below. Make sure that the answers are complete and understandable to the patient. NOTE: All dollar amounts in the scenarios are from 2021 Medicare which is the data presented in your textbook Scenario \#1 The Client has taken their first job that provides them with healthcare benefits. She must select a health care insurance plan from the three plans that are offered by her employer. She does not understand the following terms. - Co-Pay - Co-Insurance - Deductible - High deductible Your job is to explain these terms in a way that she can understand and use that knowledge in making her health care plan choice. Remember just repeating a definition from a book or online sources will not help her to understand. Scenario \#2 The Client is a woman whose husband has been hospitalized for 7 weeks. She and her husband have traditional fee for service Medicare healthcare coverage. She does not understand why she received a bill for $1,484 from the hospital since Medicare provides for her husband's hospitalization. The doctors have indicated that her husband will most likely be in the hospital for several weeks to months more. Therefore, she is concerned about what she may have to pay in the future. Your job is to explain to her why she has received the bill for $1,484 and what potential cost that she might incur and how the process works. Scenario \#3 A man, who has the Part D Medicare plan, just came from the pharmacy where he went to get his prescription filled. The pharmacy indicated that he owed much more for his medicine this time because he was in the "doughnut hole". Your job is to explain to him why he is being charged more this time and what he can anticipate how the cost to change in the future
