You are measuring the velocity of air at standard temperature and pressure in a 1" pipe. You initially estimate the velocity to be 50 ft/s, if the mass flow rate is independent of the velocity in the section where you are making the measurements determine the extent a probe that can be considered a 1/4" tube will disturb the velocity of the flow.
