The business has 250 staff working across three offices and over 2000 external users on their educational platforms. Your role includes providing and maintaining a complex structure of applications and systems, including e-learning solutions, servers and bespoke software to support internal and external customers. LTUC would like a significant infrastructure upgrade to improve security, performance and resilience across their network, server and storage estate. This includes moving to a cloud infrastructure. The Technology Director, feels a review of their systems is needed, and stated - 'It is necessary to get a good understanding of the current systems and the improvements to be made. But, more importantly, it is an opportunity to identify any areas of risk. As part of the internal technology team, you have been asked to provide a comprehensive assessment. This includes reviewing the infrastructure that supports the three regional offices and the internal servers and network environment and making recommendations for the businesses network design in a cloud infrastructure. You have been asked to produce a briefing paper, with cloud network illustrations, for presentation to the Technology Director and your colleagues at a future meeting. You will submit your briefing paper to the team in advance of the meeting and then present the contents of your paper, answering questions at the meeting. Assignment activity and guidance Task A: Your briefing paper should: 1. Review how a cloud environment can impact network implementation and performance by examining and comparing the most common current networking principles, different network architectures for the cloud. 2. Include a negotiation and discussion on common networking standards and architectures, their benefits and constraints, and how they facilitate communication in a cloud environment. 3. Specify the operation of these technologies, how remote operating systems are deployed and how remote clients interact with cloud services. 4. Examine the effects that implementing a cloud-based system has on implementation and overall performance of a system. Task B: On the basis of your research from Task A, management has decided to opt for a cloud migration, giving the business the opportunity to make the cultural shift, as operations will need to interface more with developers. To demonstrate your ideas for moving to the cloud you need to develop a simple application to demonstrate moving a system to the cloud. As you move it from the original environment to the cloud, you should make it better, more resilient and more cloud-centric. In order to do this, you should produce the following. A detailed design of your cloud-based network solution for the given business case, which includes: 1. Perform 4 Virtual Networks (Vnets) in Canada, Korea, USA & UK. (evidence of implementing) 2. For Canada, USA Vnets, create 3 subnets in each subnet there are 20 users, name the subnets, and install IP addresses. (evidence of implementing) 3. For Korea & UK Vnets, create 2 subnets in each subnet there are 10 users, name the subnets and install IP addresses. (evidence of implementing) 4. Evaluate your IP address Class selections. 5. Create a Public IP address and justify your options is it Standard or Basic. (evidence of justifying and implementing). 6. Perform a DNS service, name the domain and explain why we need it.
