You are required to write a report of 2,500 words maximum (excluding references). This project will include a description of the problem, a literature review, and a discussion of the challenges for the control of horizontal and vertical thickness of a steel beam in a hot steel rolling mill.
Consider the following in the report:
• Introduction: where you describe the rolling mill principle and its applications.
• Two axes rolling: where you discuss two axes (x, y) rolling in the making of rolled steel with an H-shaped cross-section.
• Modeling: where you discuss in a simplified way the mathematical models used in two axes rolling. It is important to discuss the cross-coupling effects and disturbances.
• Literature review: where you present the key methods used to control a rolling mill.
Notes:
• No implementation or results needed, as this is a proposal type report.
• A minimum 3-4 supporting references and correct use of in-text citation. Citation and referencing format should conform to the IEEE citation and referencing.
• Research readings, articles, software help files, or other sources for guidance and information on this topic.

• Communication style [2 marks]
o A clean structure of the report with correct captioning of figures and tables and adapted headings and subheadings and no spelling mistakes is expected.
• References [3 marks]
o Correct referencing with a coherent style is expected here. Journal papers and other scholarly works are expected to make the majority of references.
• Problem statement [5 marks]
o A clear statement of the problem is expected here. The context and eventually a historical background is needed.
• Model [5 marks]
o Description of the steps to get a mathematical model is expected. Multiple models might be mentioned. The important point is to clearly describe each variable and to show an understanding of the model and its limitations.
• Block diagrams [5 marks]
o A block diagram showing the inputs (manipulated and disturbance), the outputs and the interaction the variables is expected. Blocks indicating transfer functions that are inspired by the model discussed previously should be added.
• Literature Review [5 marks]
o It is expected to summarize the different methods that are proposed in the literature to solve the control problem. For each method, a reference and a summary of the principle used along with typical results and limitations are needed.
• Challenges [5 marks]
o A discussion on the remaining challenges for this control problem is expected. Challenges that could be discussed include interaction between variables, noise, energy use, mechanical challenges
