You are the manager of a small rural health clinic which is part of a much larger healthcare organization. You have been informed that your most valued employees, Sally, is being transferred to one of the larger urban clinics to address staffing issues. Sally has been informed only that she is being transferred, effective immediately. She has been a loyal employee, with an impeccable work history. Patients, families and providers rave about him. Sally has been with your clinic for nearly 10 years.
The sudden transfer was not easy on Sally. The staff at the new clinic made it worse, they viewed her as a new employee and treated her that way. Sally's new supervisor has been moving her around within the clinic to address her needs at the moment, making it nearly impossible for Sally to familiarize himself with this clinic.
Sally's motivation was at an all-time low, and this was apparent by her negative attitude. Sally went from a highly praised employee to one that was receiving frequent written warnings. With no improvement in sight, the supervisor is now in a tough position. Although firing Sally would be the easiest option, the supervisor cannot deny Sally's spotless work history or her many loyal years in the health care system. As such, the supervisor would like to devise a plan to motivate Sally once again. She recognizes that this task is easier said than done but feels as though Sally is worth she challenge.
Sally's specific position is irrelevant but you may make her a nurse, radiology tech, lab tech, front desk person, etc. Use your text and any other outside resources to respond to the following questions:
