You are the manager of a soccer team and you need to decide which players to trade for the next season. The following is your current roster except for the goalkeeper. The list below lists the players' skills and current market value. Player Defense Skills Passing Skills Shooting Skills Market Value Defender A 9 5 2 1 million Defender B 7 6 3 Defender C 6 6 4 Defender D 7 7 Midfielder E 8 9 15 Midfielder F 4 8 6 Midfielder G 6 7 7 0.5 million 0.6 million 1 million 3 million 1 million 1.8 million Midfielder H 2 7 6 1.2 million Striker I 5 7 10 8 million Striker J 2 5 8 1.5 million The following players from other teams are available in the open market. Player Defense Skills Passing Skills Shooting Skills Market Value Defender K 8 8 7 4 million Defender L 8 8 5 3 million Midfielder M 5 7 6 2.5 million Midfielder N 6 7 6 3 million Striker O 4 5 8 1.5 million You want to improve your team, but you don't have any extra money to use in recruiting new players. You can, however, sell the rights to some of your players in order to raise money to purchase the rights to other players. You want to have the same number of players in each section (4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 strikers) after your trades. Assume that if you don't touch a given section of the team (defense, midfield or attack), then that section will perform 5% better (in all skills) than predicted by the stats because the players will already be familiar with each other's playing style. Are there any trades that you could make that, without adding any new money, would create a team better in defense, passing and shooting than the current roster? Assume that all players' skills count (for example, the average shooting skills of the team is the average of all players, not just the strikers' shooting skills). Do not pick a trade that would improve the team on one skill, while hurting it on others. When you consider whether the new roster is better in a given skill, don't forget to take into account the 5% familiarity bonus.
